Mark Oates' work spans from films and concerts to production music. He has recieved awards, magazine and newspaper articles and interviews, and served on the panel "Getting Your Music in Film" at the 2007 Hyperfest Music Festival.




JIGOKU (2008)

A group of students traveling Southeast Asia for a school program decide to have one last hurrah on the little island of Okinawa. Soon a series of mysterious events unfold leaving them to fend for themselves in a completely new and strange place. What is more dangerous, the threat from without or from within?

This is the first feature-length film produced by Uncanny in association with Third Star films. It was filmed completely on location in Okinawa, Japan in August, 2006. Approximate running time: 90 min.

UNDER MY SKIN (2006)



Director Stanley Ray said, "It's about an apartment maintenance man who encounters a reclusive, mysterious, leper-type character," he said. "It's never really clear what afflicted him, but as it turns out, the maintenance man becomes afflicted. The story is how he ends up reacting to it.

THE DONOR CONSPIRACY (2007)


A dark comedy loosely based on actual events about the black-market world of harvesting/trafficking human organs. When two promising, yet overzealous and cynical medical school students, Gavin and Curt, get expelled from medical school due to excessive elaborate pranks they haphazardly fall in to the shady underworld of black market kidney harvesting.

NOWHERE STREET (2006)


Paul Harris is a dishwasher with little to look forward to in life. One night after stumbling upon a mugging, he rescues a stranger named Jake. As a result, a friendship is formed. As time goes on Jake discovers how empty Paul's life is and determines to give it purpose. His solution is to draw Paul into his world, a world filled with drugs and prostitution. LADY LIBERTY (2005)



Lady Liberty swept the awards including Best Picture at the 2005 Duke City Shootout. Director Azad Jafarian was winner in the Orsen Wells category for best script. The film also took awards for Best Editor (John Lore), B.O.H.I.C.A. Award for best producer (Amy Giedraitis), and Best Soundtrack/Score (Mark Oates).

A young girl naively sets out to change the face of American politics by blackmailing a US Senator with the help of her boyfriend.

THE GUN (2006)

A film by Award-winning cinematographer Joachim Jung. The Gun tells a story through the viewpoint of an old pistol, and the intertwining of multiple people's lives.

DOG DAY (2006)


Dog Day is a comedy written by award-winning cinematographer Joachim Jung. It tells the story of Two brothers of Italian decent who have to find a new giant new plasma screen for their Grandmother in time for her to watch her favorite TV show.

INTERNAL BLEEDING (2006)


A dark film by director Peter Meilleur about a serial killer who questions his lifestyle when he meets a special girl. Soon he finds her to be kidnapped and he has to face his past in order to set things right. Starring Ross Kelly and Miguel Martinez. Cinematography and editing by John Lore.

DJINN (2005)

Djinn is a short animated film by award winning director Brandon Scott Jensen from Jensen Animation. Djinn tells the story of Tantelos, who removes his soul from his body so that sorcerers can not force him to work against his will.

Brandon was particularly pleased with this score. After hearing it for the first time he said, "I'm speachless.", and later "It's the greatest complement to the film that I'm most proud of."
